Datuk Jared Lim
Co-founder of The Clearwater Group
Jared has satiated his curiosity for the business world by going from research analyst to investment banker to private equity founder to corporate CEO and Chairman. At one time, running multiple public listed companies and investment funds, he has recently taken a hiatus from public listed positions to focus on his private portfolio companies. He has invested in an eclectic list of businesses in recent years from biscuit manufacturers to funeral services, security companies, Out of Home media companies and more recently in the technology enabling companies such as wireless communications, super battery manufacturing and OMNI channel platforms. Today, he has consolidated his businesses into his own investment company called Tremendous Asia Partners and drives his portfolios from this platform.
How does The Clearwater Group fit into your investment portfolio?
Clearwater is the company that most represents the lifestyle and growth that Dian and I have experienced over the past 15 years. It is a product of our combined energies, management and design styles directly reflected by the ebb and flow of our lives throughout this period. Our emphasis on wellness and living have been the one constant and we have developed partnerships with amazing specialists and craftspeople to be able to do what we do today.
What best represents your outlook in life today?
I was taught to visualize my goals and will them into materialization. That made me single mindedly focused on work at the expense of a lot of everything else in my life. Over the years, I’ve learnt that the Universe is Abundance and we are a reflection of this. I’m learning to live with the flow of life. To be open to whatever comes and often that also includes our mind’s definition of “good” and “bad”. What this has allowed me to do is to find partnerships with amazing people like Dr Merrina Chan of Eternal Wellness and maverick restaurateurs like Terazawa San from Ma Maison or Chef extraordinaries like Chef Jeff Ramsey.
What are you most excited about for Clearwater?
We are really just at the beginning of growing The Clearwater Group. I’m especially proud that the team made it through the pandemic while maintaining intact most of our operations and people. We’ve even managed to expand a little this year with our Kintsugi project in Kuala Lumpur, our Mudra café and our soon to be launched Detox centre in the Mines Beach Resort. We’ve recently started planning to expand into the region with some of our brands in wellness and F&B. That means growing our management team and stabilizing our infrastructure! That’s plenty exciting for me.
Over the years, I’ve learnt that the Universe is Abundance and we are a reflection of this. I’m learning to live with the flow of life.
Datin Dian Lee
Co-founder of The Clearwater Group
Dian is one of the founding members of The Clearwater Group. Coming straight out of university, she resolved early on to forge her own path that was different from her family business. Her approach then as is now, is to focus on the experience and the design details that only boutique projects could afford to dive into. Melding a large part of her own personal lifestyles and actual life lessons and practices into the various brands created by the Clearwater, where her fingerprints can be found in many of the creations.
Today, almost 15 years since the brand was first conceptualized, Dian has developed a multi faceted resume from property development and eco design to yoga and meditation instructor, to charitable organizations and politics and even a conscious parenting coach. All of which have given her a unique vantage point to help guide and grow the ever expanding Clearwater Group beyond the brick and mortar into an organization that promotes a life more fully lived.
